Italy's FlyingBasket completes its first drone transportation

Due to various factors such as technology and supervision, it will take a long time for autonomous commercial drone delivery to be commercially available. Last week, the Italian company FlyingBasket carried out its first urban heavy transport flight in Torino with an impressive pair of large deliveries.

Through cooperation with the aerospace company Leonardo and Italian Post, FlyingBasket deployed two powerful FB3 drones, each carrying approximately 26 kg (57 lb) of cargo, from the postal distribution center to approximately 3.9 kilometers (2.4 miles). The destination outside, after which the drone returns.

Although 26 kg is already very heavy, the design payload of the FB3 UAV is 100 kg. In order to ensure the safety of everyone except local kayakers, drones fly mainly on the Stura di Lanzo river. One of them carries its load in an internal compartment, and the other is in a sling hung on a hook, which means it can lower the payload on the cable and drop it without landing.

The Italian Aviation Authority (ENAC) authorized this task. This is not the first commercial drone delivery service in Europe - for example, Wing's business in Helsinki already allows you to drop lunch and coffee by air, and other businesses are slowly opening up. However, the huge payload makes it clear to people how convenient these things can be in logistics operations other than direct delivery to customers.

Delivery VTOL UAV, Remote airdrop system for emergency supplies(replenishment of medicines, food, water, plasma, etc.)

The FDD50P UAV platform is equipped with industrial-grade vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing flight control and navigation system, as well as professional aerial aerial survey and inspection ground station software. It can ensure that the drone can fly autonomously throughout the process, without operator intervention to complete the autonomous take-off and flight status. In the flight phase of conversion, autonomous cruise, and autonomous landing, it also supports automatic route planning for 1000 waypoints and emergency standby plan for 100 waypoints.
The drone platform has the following features and advantages:
a) Practical and efficient: it has the characteristics of fixed-wing UAV’s long flight time, fast speed, long distance and large load;
b) Vertical take-off and landing: with the take-off and landing mode of the rotorless drone, greatly reducing the requirements for landing and landing and airspace;
c) low cost of use: no complicated and bulky launching and recycling equipment, no additional recycling sensors required;
d) Simple operation: integrated special flight control and navigation system, full autonomous flight, operators only need to send flight plans, no professional training and operational experience;
e) Compact system: no complicated auxiliary equipment, simple transportation, deployment, maintenance and withdrawal.
