The market will have a huge demand of drone in 2021

Judging by many indicators, 2020 is certainly not a bad year for drones market, as the number of drones delivered has surged. People are accepting the use of drones to deliver home COVID-19 test kits.

But as is the case in most industries, work has been interrupted due to changes in COVID-19 procedures. Layoffs are still happening. But 2021 will be an important year for the drone industry, largely because the drone industry has laid a solid foundation to deal with the coronavirus. At least, this is based on the forecast of drone deployment in 2021.

DroneDeploy, a drone software company, surveyed more than 600 users in 20 industries in more than 40 countries to understand how companies are approaching 2021. 88% of respondents said that they expect to increase or maintain spending on drones in 2021. More specifically, 53% of respondents said they intend to increase spending, rather than maintain spending.

"Despite cutting all costs during the COVID-19 pandemic, the company is still willing to invest in drone technology," said the DroneDeploy State of the Drone Industry Report 2021. "These data also show that drone technology may have been a luxury for many companies in the past, but now more and more industries regard it as a necessity." This is the early stage of the new crown pandemic.

In April and May of this year, at the peak of the first pandemic lockdown, the number of corporate flights deployed with drones increased by 160% compared to the same period in 2019. For the whole year, the enterprise users of droonedeploy will increase by 259% in 2020 compared to 2019. But perhaps even more surprising is that the number of corporate users in 2020 has increased by 1.6 times compared to the sum of 2013-2019. As 2021 continues, the expected growth is mainly concentrated in the commercial and industrial aspects of the drone industry.

DroneDeploy, a drone software company, said that from mid-March to mid-April 2020, the number of drone takeoffs for U.S. agricultural customers increased by 33%. Courier companies are getting approvals faster, and public opinion is increasingly leaning toward them. “You will hear many companies suspend everything, but drone delivery is growing faster than ever before,” Kevin Wosk, global business development director for UPS Flight Forward, the drone delivery division of the multinational package delivery giant UPS (Kevin Wasik) said. "The pandemic is just an accelerator for us."

According to DroneDeploy's research, the fastest-growing areas include: Construction Among DroneDeploy's energy-focused customers, 52% said they intend to increase spending in 2021. 57% of respondents said that they plan to expand beyond the aviation map business in the next year. 27% of companies said they plan to incorporate lidar capabilities into their projects in 2021. Energy 62% of DroneDeploy energy customers said they plan to increase spending in 2021.

The drone analyst report said: "The peaks in April and May of this year are the same as the largest non-holiday month in July 2017." What is an important reason for the possible proliferation of drones? Their inherent social distance. This means better security. Respondents participating in the 2021 DroneDeploy predictions survey said that the main problems that drone technology solves for them are improving safety (39% and 29%, respectively), risk management (38% and 21%, respectively) and compliance (25% and 19%, respectively).
