Swiss Drones company conducts water BVLOS flight in Malta

Recently, the Malta Ministry of Transport (Transport Malta), the Malta Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and SwissDrones, a global manufacturer of long-range unmanned helicopter systems, have overseen a series of long-range over-the-horizon (BVLOS) water flights for diligent maritime patrols, search and Simulation of rescue and surveillance tasks. Further flight is to test and verify communication and sensor payloads.

Based on the cooperation of Malta Transportation Bureau, Malta Communications Bureau, Malta Air Traffic Services Bureau, Malta Enterprise Bureau, MaltaIndis Company and the St. Lawrence Local Council, these actions were carried out.

These flights were carried out in accordance with the regulations of the European Security Administration (EASA) on specific types of unmanned aircraft, and were fully authorized by the Malta Transport Agency.

Ulrich Amberg, CEO of SwissDrones, said: "The Malta Islands provide an ideal location for long-distance flight tests under harsh sea conditions. In addition, this country is a growing robotics and aviation center with a world-class foundation. The facilities and excellent government support make it perfectly suitable for establishing a new operating base."

Charles Pace, Director of the Transport Department of the Malta Civil Aviation Administration, said: "We are very impressed with the meticulous and professional approach to SwissDrones' flight operations, as well as the unparalleled engineering and quality of their aircraft. We thank them for choosing Malta for offshore testing and verification, and look forward to it. Continuous cooperation."

SDO 50 V2 vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned helicopter system is deployed by SwissDrones. This model is designed to perform a variety of remote missions at high altitudes and large temperature differences day and night in severe weather conditions, without any risk to the crew.

The unique design features of the aircraft make it have a payload capacity of up to 45 kg (including fuel), a battery life of more than 3 hours, a stable flight mode, the ability to carry single or multiple high-quality sensors, and a variety of safety functions. Autonomous take-off and landing procedures and autonomous flight modes are implemented by an integrated autopilot system.

SDO 50 V2 uses the coupled twin rotors of the Fleetner system and rotates in opposite directions. The position of each rotor mast is slightly different from the other, allowing the blades to mesh without contact. This design feature not only enables the aircraft's payload capacity, higher endurance and stable flight mode to be realized, but also enables the helicopter to function without tail fins, thereby saving power and increasing the ratio of payload to weight A substantial increase.

Arangan Varatharajah, Director of Flight Operations, Swiss Drone Company, said: “The cooperation with the Malta government is very pleasant. Throughout the application process, each entity has given incredible response and support. We look forward to a kind of Continue to work closely with the identity."

FlyDragon BVLOS drone FLY-380 VTOL fixed-wing

Flydragon BVLOS drone  FLY-380 VTOL fixed-wing UAV platform is an electric long-haul composite wing vertical take-off and landing drone independently developed by our company. The overall layout of the composite wing with fixed wing and four-rotor is used to solve the vertical take-off and landing of the fixed-wing UAV in a simple and reliable way. The difficulty of the fixed-wing UAV has the characteristics of long flight time, high speed, long distance and the vertical take-off and landing of the rotorless drone. The vertical take-off and landing mode greatly enhances the environmental adaptability of the drone platform. The man-machine platform can operate smoothly in complex terrain and densely populated areas such as mountains, hills and jungles, greatly expanding the scope of application of drones, and is an ideal choice for industrial-grade drones.
The FLY-380 UAV platform is equipped with industrial-grade vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing flight control and navigation system, as well as professional aerial aerial survey and inspection ground station software. It can ensure that the drone can fly autonomously throughout the process, without operator intervention to complete the autonomous take-off and flight status. In the flight phase of conversion, autonomous cruise, and autonomous landing, it also supports automatic route planning for 1000 waypoints and emergency standby plan for 100 waypoints.
The drone platform has the following features and advantages:
a) Practical and efficient: it has the characteristics of fixed-wing UAV’s long flight time, fast speed, long distance and large load;
b) Vertical take-off and landing: with the take-off and landing mode of the rotorless drone, greatly reducing the requirements for landing and landing and airspace;
c) low cost of use: no complicated and bulky launching and recycling equipment, no additional recycling sensors required;
d) Simple operation: integrated special flight control and navigation system, full autonomous flight, operators only need to send flight plans, no professional training and operational experience;
e) Compact system: no complicated auxiliary equipment, simple transportation, deployment, maintenance and withdrawal.
